Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to NewTools at newtools.net and the tools and pages delivered through it. In this policy, “NewTools,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the NewTools service.
NewTools currently lets people use its public tools without creating an account. This policy does not cover a third-party website or platform that you visit or ask a downloader to access.
Information we collect
The information handled depends on the tool you choose. We receive content you submit, such as files, public media URLs, search terms, text, tool settings, and information you send when contacting us.
Our site, hosting, security, analytics, and API systems may also process technical information such as your IP address, request time, page URL, referrer, browser and device information, general location derived from an IP address, response status, and diagnostic or security events.
- Tool analytics are designed to use limited fields such as the tool and category used, broad file type and size ranges, result counts, query length, format, source, and error code—not file contents or filenames.
- NewTools does not currently provide user accounts, sign-in, or account profiles.
- Please do not submit sensitive, confidential, or unlawful content unless it is necessary for the tool and you are authorized to process it.
How files, links, and AI content are processed
Many image, text, data, web, QR, and PDF editing operations run locally in your browser. Content used only by those operations is not intentionally uploaded by that tool.
Other tools require server processing. Selected PDF conversion, merge, split, and compression tools upload files to the NewTools Stirling-PDF service at pdf-api.newtools.net. Video downloading and server-mode video compression send URLs or files to api.newtools.net. Download processing may contact the public platform identified by the URL and may create a temporary server copy.
AI transcription and PDF summarization upload the selected content to api.newtools.net. The configured backend providers are currently Groq for transcription and DeepSeek for language-model summarization. The relevant content or extracted text may be sent to those providers to produce the result. Provider handling is also governed by their terms and privacy practices.
How we use information
We use information to provide the tool you request, return or prepare results, maintain security, prevent abuse, enforce limits, diagnose failures, understand aggregate tool usage, improve performance and usability, respond to communications, and comply with applicable law.
The current application does not implement a sale of personal information. NewTools may use third-party advertising services, including Google AdSense. Advertisements are not guaranteed to appear on every page or during every visit.
Legal bases where applicable
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, processing may be necessary to perform the service you request, based on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving NewTools, based on your consent where consent is requested, or necessary to meet legal obligations and protect legal rights.
You may withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Retention and deletion
Browser-only content generally remains on your device for the active page or session unless you save the result or your browser retains it. Closing or refreshing a page normally clears in-memory content; saved theme and mode preferences follow your browser-storage settings.
For the server-mode video compressor, source files are removed after processing or cancellation, result files expire after a configurable period that currently defaults to one hour, and limited job records used for rate limiting and short diagnostics are normally removed after about one day. Most server-generated MP4 and Streamable files also have one-hour cleanup logic.
The code does not establish one universal deletion period for every downloader format, the separate PDF service, analytics records, server logs, or AI providers. Those periods may vary by system and provider. We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purpose, security, dispute handling, and legal compliance, subject to the actual controls of each service.
Security
NewTools uses measures reflected in the service architecture, including HTTPS service URLs, restrictive browser security headers, input and URL validation, rate limiting, scoped job tokens, filename sanitization, and limited analytics event fields.
No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you should keep your own copy of important material and avoid submitting content that is not appropriate for online processing.
International data transfers
NewTools and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Privacy laws in those countries may differ. Where required, we rely on an available legal transfer mechanism or other appropriate safeguards.
Children's privacy
NewTools does not ask users to create accounts or provide their age, and the service is not designed to collect children's personal information. If you believe a child submitted personal information through NewTools without appropriate authorization, contact us so the issue can be reviewed.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or an explanation of certain processing. You may also have the right to complain to a local data-protection authority.
Because NewTools has no user accounts and many tools work in the browser, we may not hold information that can be linked back to you. We may request enough information to verify and locate a record, and we will not collect more than reasonably necessary for that purpose.
Third-party services and links
NewTools may display content, previews, download sources, or links involving third-party platforms. Those third parties control their own services and privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information to them.
Only submit a public media URL or content that you have the right to access and process. NewTools does not require or request your password for a supported media platform.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy on this page and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be highlighted through the site when appropriate.
